Séjour à Bath, célèbre ville thermale

Deux classes du collège (élèves de 4ème et de 3ème) vont effectuer un séjour de 5 jours à Bath en Grande-Bretagne du lundi 25 au samedi 30 avril 2011. Les élèves seront hébergés par des familles hôtesses durant leur séjour. Ils vont faire la découverte de la célèbre ville thermale, riche de son histoire et au patrimoine culturel et architectural unique.

Programme du séjour

LUNDI

Départ en car du collège…à 5 heures du matin : le voyage commence par une petite sieste dans le car :

avant l’arrivée à Calais où on prend le ferry :

Arrivée à Douvres et ses blanches falaises :

et route vers Tunbridges wells pour une petite pause : 

Tunbridge Wells is a town in west Kent, about 40 miles south-east of London, which used to be a spa in Georgian times . The Pantiles attracted visitors who wished to take the waters.

On arrive à Bath en fin de journée.

Rencontre avec les familles qui vont  nous héberger pour 4 nuits.

MARDI

Visite de Bath, sa cathédrale, ses bains romains, le circus et le crescent !

BATH is a city in the county of Somerset in the south west of England.

The city was a spa resort during the Romans time. They built a temple  and baths using  the hot springs, which are unique in the United Kingdom. The Anglo-Saxons called the town Baðum, meaning "at the baths,"

John of Tours planned the construction of the cathedral in 1088  and new baths were built around the three springs.

Bath became popular as a spa resort during the Georgian era and an increasing number of visitors came to take the waters. The architect John Wood created new quarters with identical façades..

On part en car visiter Bristol !

Bristol is England's sixth, and the United Kingdom's eighth most populous city.It is built around the River Avon.

Bristol’s prosperity has been linked with the sea since its earliest days.

JEUDI 

On part en car visiter la petite ville de Wells

Wells is the second-smallest city in England with less than 10 000 inhabitants!

The name comes from the three wells that are in the city.

The cathedral : Parts of the building date back to the tenth century. It is known for its fine fan vaulted ceilings and the scissor arches which support the central tower.
