6ème 2 visit the film musicals exhibition at the Philharmonie de Paris.
A recent trip was to the Cité de la Musique to see the current exhibition
about film musicals. From Fred Astaire’s nifty footwork to Cyd Charisse’s
hundred metre twirling skirt in Brigadoon, it was a thrilling journey as we
plunged into the film archives. The guide introduced us to tap dancing
with the help of an expert on a huge screen. Twenty-eight pairs of feet
clacked rather loudly with pleasure but not necessarily very rhythmically.
We were surprised to discover the hidden truth about many actors: Audrey
Hepburn’s singing voice in My Fair Lady was dubbed over by another
singer. Even famous stars are not perfect!
